Assignment 9A

Who: Residents of Gainesville are the priority for the opportunity. To be more specific those seeking jobs or a better quality of life within their community. The businesses outside of Gainesville interest do not fall within the boundary due to the fact that they do not benefit Gainesville as a whole. What: The need of improving quality of life within the Gainesville area, hence increasing business opportunities for residents and increasing the number of job opportunities for the majority of population. In my opinion there isn't a need that is similar to mine that can be compared  and differed. Why: Since I identified outsiders as businesses outside of the Gainesville area the only goal they have in mind is to attract customers/ clients. My five interviews included people who were homeless, residents who had low-income, and residents who were in the middle-class. Both the low-income and homeless were on board for the idea because they were interested in the results the opport...

8A – Solving The Problem

The main issue that I'm tackling is the expansion of Gainesville. The main problem as to why Gainesville is not alluring is because of the cons of living in Gainesville. Employment is a key factor in this because of population. The more people are not working, the more difficult it will be to make a city attractive. Therefore first step is to provide opportunities for the unemployed by creating new businesses in the local area. From there we can move to renovating and from renovation comes innovation and expansion.

My Venture(7A)

Gainesville has always been known as a university city. Because of this the city suffers every year in finances during the summer due to the absence of students, therefore we need to add more alluring features to the city. Who: residents of Gainesville What: Improve features of Gainesville Why: To improve the local economy. Residents of Gainesville will especially like this because that means new opportunities. Homeless people can get employed, new shopping centers can be built etc. The interviewees that I have questioned most agreed that it would beneficial for Gainesville to increase its finances, but the number one thing that they ask is how? How can we make Gainesville more attractive. Some interviewees even view this as unnecessary because they enjoy the peace and quiet. There are many things to tackle when it comes to expanded Gainesville and further research is required.

Opportunities

Belief:  I believe that there is an unmet need for elevators within the Gainesville apartment complexes. There are many apartments that don't have elevators in the buildings and it is a huge hassle when in comes to the people living upstairs say past the second floor. It may not be obvious, but it becomes more apparent when you live the in an apartment on the third floor. One may notice it's harder to carry groceries on the third week on getting groceries, that it was a mistake to live on the third floor because you have to move all the furniture/ belongings of your up the stairs, and especially when you need a new appliance in the apartment because the old stopped working. The need becomes more increasingly demanded because of the problems that come with living on the third floor of a building. I believe that anyone living on the third floor would agree that there is a need for elevators.           Interviews: I in...

My Entrepreneurship Story

Image
Last year I had spent the fall semester in China to learn Chinese and essentially live as one, but I wasn't alone in China as I had family there to support me. One such member is my uncle from another grandmother, and grandfather, who happens to be an entrepreneur and a successful one at that. When he wasn't helping me get accustomed to my new setting for the next few months, we had long conversations on what I should expect in the future and one of which was his life story. My uncle did not have a glamorous childhood like most people in China at that time. He had an alcoholic father who would gamble what little money the family had and the mother struggled to feed her children. The mother soon passed away due to an illness and the father was barely seen around the little apartment they had. My uncle did not want live this way for the rest of his life, and so he decided to work hard for a life that he wanted to live. It started with him working multiple jobs to start living awa...
